    ***Vampire Bats***
    This STEAM plus ELA lesson has it all! Explore the science of vampire bats and their cave habitats while completing a language arts/technology lesson. The student will be able to act as a science writer in this lesson by doing research and reporting on it in a blog entitled, “14 Things You Didn’t Know About Vampire Bats.” In doing this research, students will cover grammar topics such as nouns, pronouns, verbs and verb tenses, comparative and superlative adjectives, adverbs, coordinating and subordinating conjunctions and more!

    This lesson also includes a hands-on project where students will create their own inexpensive vampire bat cave habitat out of a cardboard box. The lesson includes vampire bat cut-outs as well as tropical plant cut outs to paste on the inside and outside of the cave.

    Explore the life science concepts of fossils and paleontology this fun-filled lesson! This lesson includes a STEAM project where students will work together to design a sieve for collecting fossils.
    These lessons can be used in a general education or special education classroom, in a home school setting, or as an enrichment experience.

The students will learn how humans can help animals survive harsh environmental conditions by designing and building backyard bird feeders. Students will also learn measurement and data math skills when making a sugar water solution for a hummingbird feeder!
