Using Virginia's SOL Standards on the Thirteen Colonies, this lesson teaches students about the 7 main colonial lifestyles:
--Large Landowners
--Farmers
--Indentured Servants
--Artisans
--Women
--Free African Americans
--Enslaved African Americans

Students complete the following activities:

1. Cloze Notes - filling in information about the 7 lifestyles, including their colonial regions

2. Cartoon Activity Worksheet - Students read quotes and match them with the colonial lifestyle described. Students also sketch backgrounds for each cartoon that match their lifestyle.

3. Slap It! Game - Fun, quick formative assessment in which students "slap" the correct answer (students of ALL ages love this game)

4. Homework - Students describe each lifestyle, as well as describe the differences between colonial and today's lifestyles.
