This test packet assesses students' knowledge about the thirteen colonies England established in America, starting with the arrival of the Puritans. (The earlier settlements of Jamestown and Plymouth are not emphasized.) Besides the main test, a modified test (with fewer answer choices) is included for meeting individual needs or for test review. An answer key is also provided.
The test is provided in Word format and may easily be modified to add or change test questions as needed.
Important figures and settlements are covered on this test, as well as some vocabulary. The three colonial regions (New England, Middle, and Southern colonies) are required knowledge, and there are some map questions about the relative locations of different colonies (e.g., name the colony that is west of New Jersey).
Besides the 13 colonies themselves, the main individuals and people groups mentioned include (in no particular order):
the Duke of York
