Need a ready to go Halloween center? Here is a quick, ready-to-print-cut-and-staple mini book that is just right for a busy day before Halloween! It is only 6 half pages long (7 including the word list), which makes it quick and easy to assemble. This mini book requires reading, writing and illustrating to complete the book.
I hope your beginning readers and writers enjoy this activity. I have found that these mini books are a developmentally effective way to engage students without a lot of “text stress”. The repetitive sentence starters help struggling readers feel successful. Students who are reading at or above level have the option of using the words at the back of the booklet, or writing in their own words with extra details.
The list at the back of the booklet has suggested words to complete the sentences. Pages 5 and 7 will rhyme if students choose the words: you (p.5) and boo (p. 7). This vocabulary page could be cut and left out of the book so that children can easily refer to the words when completing the sentences.
A matching game of pictures to text is now included. 12 pictures (Halloween theme) and 12 cards with text (nouns) that also label the pictures.
Thank you for checking this out!
