Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826) was the third President of the United States, author of the U.S. Declaration of Independence, and the statesmen responsible for the Louisiana Purchase. Jefferson was a firm supporter of democracy and individualism, and an expert in many academic and scientific fields including math, agriculture and farming, science, and linguistics. Jefferson was fascinated with nature and exploration and was responsible for doubling the size of America by purchasing the Louisiana Territory from France for which he soon after dispatched Lewis and Clark on their famous expedition to map and explore the newly gained land. Jefferson was also a skilled inventor and architect who designed his home Monticello, and was the founder of the University of Virginia.
Included in this set are two images of Jefferson, a drafted copy of the Declaration of Independence, the University of Virgina, Monticello; Lewis and Clark mapping a route through the wilderness; Jefferson's telescope, pen and ink, a map of the Louisiana Purchase; and Jefferson's plow - one of his many inventions in the field of agriculture. 20 PNG images in all.
