This is a quick nonfiction reading passage to connect to both science (geology) and US/Virginia history. This passage has information about a natural wonder of the world that is located in Virginia. Natural Bridge was visited by Thomas Jefferson, who also became its first private owner. Students will read about how Natural Bridge was formed (erosion) and about Thomas Jefferson's connection to it. They will answer 8 questions on the second page where they are prompted to go back to the text and highlight or underline where they found the answer (or a clue for the answer, in the case of an inference). This passage is perfect for anyone studying erosion or geologic forces, US history or Virginia history, or simply anyone who needs practice with a high-interest nonfiction text.
