Beautifully illustrated refugee story of a family that must flee their home in order to find safety. The family ends up in a new country where there is more opportunity and education. The mother notices that the new country is quite different, with people wearing only 3 colors - green, gray, and orange. She is inspired to add some flair and put her own personal touch on the clothing in her new country.
n search of a freer place where every child can go to school, a family moves from Fascist Portugal to Communist Czechoslovakia. Different as this new country is, however, it is far from ideal. In this new, gray world, the lack of freedom is felt in the simplest things, such as the colors one can and cannot wear.
