This print and cut half-sheet gives students practice with engineering concepts, is an easy assessment tool, and pairs perfectly with the story "The Three Billy Goat's Gruff".
In English AND Spanish.
1) Students plan their designs to solve the problem: how to get the goats across the river without getting eaten by the troll.
2) Students test their designs (suggested materials: recycled cardboard/cups, foil, marshmallows and toothpicks).
3) students self-assess their designs.
Students in my room made bridges and boats from marshmallows and toothpicks. One even made a 'hot air balloon'.
