This is a small group reader's theater is for 4 students. In the script - a miller brags to the king that his daughter can spin straw into gold. She cannot actually do this and a little man appears and offers to do the work for her. On the third day she has nothing to pay the little man with so she promises her first child. When the little man comes to get the child, the queen begs for a chance to keep it. The little man gives her three days to figure out what his name is.
There are is a writing prompt for the students to do at the bottom of the last page. Make sure students look at the vocabulary on the front page. I use reader's theaters to encourage my students to practice fluency. It is a fun way to do something that they need.
Most of my scripts are in black and white so they photo copy easily and do not waste ink. The problem with many other reader's theaters is that students spend a lot of time waiting for their part. When you have a small group they get more practice and you get less off task behaviors.
My name is Melanie Whitesides but my store name is Wonbyone and I hope that your students enjoy this script as much as mine did. If you like this script look for more fairy tale related scripts at my store. Please let me know how things go!
