Thumbprint Frogs A Speech Therapy Craft Activity
No Prep and Ink Friendly
Do you need a an engaging articulation activity to mix up your speech sessions? Grab an ink pad and this resource!
This activity was designed to be a simple, no-prep craft activity to target articulation in an engaging way. These pages are no-prep (print & go). This pack includes the following sounds: initial/final: p, b, m; final: n, t, d; initial/medial/final: k, g, f, v, l, s, z, ch, j, th, sh; pre-vocalic r; vocalic r (er, ar, or, air, ear, ire); rblends; lblends; sblends (separate mats for sp, st, sm, sn, sk, sl, sw, mixed). First practice, then make a thumbprint frog!
Materials Needed: Ink pad or paint (green recommended), thumbprint frog pages, & a black marker (a red one too if you want to add a frog’s tongue). You may also want to have wet wipes or paper towels handy (it can get messy)!
Optional Assembly: You can also place in a sheet protector or laminate to use with play dough.
To use: The student will practice the target word and then make a thumbprint frog on the lily pad. The student will place their thumb on an ink pad and then stamp it over the target word on the lily pad. Then using a black marker, the student will draw on a mouth or tongue on the frog. The therapist will determine the number or trials per frog.
Use play dough to smash to make frogs
Use bingo chips to place over the frogs.
Use bingo dotters (don’t forget to draw the mouth!)
