Give the "Thumbs Up" to learning beginning sounds. Check out my store for the B&W file or the file that has both!!!!
Mr. Mike's Kinder Place
Your students will be giving the thumbs to learning each beginning sound. The letter X is the only letter that focuses on the ending sound. They will be drawing, coloring, writing, cutting, gluing and sorting on each included worksheet. These sheets are great to see if your students really have a grasp on the letter sounds by making them give both examples and non examples. Use these as a center activity or an assessment tool. You can use this with partners too! The real fun is listening to students explain their answers to each other. I've done this with my kiddos in class.
This file includes both color printable pages. Each page has two picture examples for each sound and two non examples. The picture were chosen as to best represent the sounds for the letters of the alphabet. Use these sheet individually or in pairs with students.
The learners will:
-sort pictures based on their initial sound
-write the letters of the alphabet, both examples and non examples
-color, cut, glue and sort pictures based on their initial sounds
-draw pictures to show their learning of beginning sounds, 2 examples and 2 non examples
-label their drawing, spelling the words phonetically
-take ownership of their learning by explaining why they chose their examples and non examples
