In my classroom, I'm always looking for ways to engage and involve all my students at the same time. Using total participation techniques, I am ensured that all students are trying, listening, and learning! One of the things I'm using this year are thumbs up and thumbs down response sticks. I laminate all the cards, cut them out, and glue them to a Popsicle stick. The students keep them in their desk and can be pulled out at any time to respond to yes/no questions, showing if an answer is correct, true or false responses, opinion questions, and more!
Teacher tip: Laminating these will mean they are much more durable. In my first grade classroom, this is essential! I simply put them in their desk cups and we can use them anytime for quick responses and total participation!
