Make assessments more fun by playing this addition and subtraction Tic-Tac-Toe game!
Two ways to play:
Student vs. Student- Kids can challenge each other with this fun game of Tic-Tac-Toe. Player 1 starts by choosing a problem to solve. If solved correctly they can mark the problem with an “O”. Player 2 may verify that the problem is solved correctly by working the problem out as well or checking work by using the answer key. Next, Player 2 will select a problem to solve. If solved correctly player 2 may mark the problem with a “x”. If the problem is solved incorrectly, leave blank and solve again later! See how many Tic-Tac-Toes you can make on one board!
Student vs. Teacher (My favorite way to play)- I challenge each student to a game of Tic-Tac-Toe. Who thinks they can beat me?!?! Students solve all nine problems on Tic-Tac-Toe board. When all problems are solved , students raise their hand and the game begins! As I am checking their work, students will mark a “x” (with a neat highlighter of their color choice) through each problem solved correctly. Students are trying to make as many tic-tac-toes as possible. If a problem is solved incorrectly, I will mark an “O” around their work and students will go back and try to fix their mistake! If a student is struggling to make corrections I give them a little one-on-one help! This is a great assessment to see where your kids are excelling or struggling! Make it a game and have FUN!!!
