Enjoy the classic game in a whole new way!
Lay the mat on the floor and use bean bags to try to land three in a row. Each square features a clear pocket that can accommodate a variety of sizes of stimulus cards to incorporate your students’ therapy targets into gameplay.
Combined with my Cariboo-compatible pocket bean bags, the therapy options are vast! Just a handful of examples:
-Insert cards depicting common objects into the bean bags, and cards depicting EET (or other) descriptors onto the mat. Whichever square you land on determines which attributes you describe for the object that is on the bean bag.
-Insert articulation targets in both the bean bags and the mat. The bean bag you throw and where it lands determines what words to practice.
-Insert cards depicting fluency enhancing strategies into the bean bags, and any picture cards onto the mat. Use the strategy that’s on your bag to talk about the picture in the square you land on.
-For mixed groups, each student can have a set of bags with stimulus items appropriate for their own goals. Each square on the mat can depict a point value. After a student completes their task, they throw their bag and earn points.
-You get the idea!
Or, hang the mat on the wall to get your students out of their seats. For example:
-Complete a following directions activity (e.g. “Find the animal that can fly and put it in the middle square in the top row.”).
-Put five articulation cards in each pocket and work on articulatory speed. The student says each target word (individually, in a phrase/sentence) as quickly and accurately as possible. They have to get all five targets correct in a row before moving on to the targets in the next pocket. Time them to see how fast they can complete the whole thing.
Each mat is made of polyester felt and measures approximately 36” x 36” (3’ x 3’). Each square features a clear vinyl pocket (3 ¾” x 2 ½”). Mats are machine washable.
