In this task, students must apply unit rate to the cost of tickets for a carnival. It is created so that the teacher can display the task on the whiteboard, without any copies or prep required!
Part 1 - Students find the unit rate given, and decide if the pricing seems reasonable.
Part 2 - Students make all the pricing proportional
Part 3 - Student develops their own pricing guide and a written explanation as to why they believe that is the best option.
Task aligns with: CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.6.RP.A.3
"Use ratio and rate reasoning to solve real-world and mathematical problems, e.g., by reasoning about tables of equivalent ratios, tape diagrams, double number line diagrams, or equations."
The Ticket Task can also be used in grade 7 to review unit rates, before diving into unit rates with complex fractions.
