Need a way to directly teach academic vocabulary? If you’re anything like me, I was looking for something that would be fun, engaging and yet rigorous. I didn’t want a multiple-choice-memorize-this-definition laundry list of worksheets. So, I created this… a YEAR-LONG Vocabulary Study created for high student engagement, open-ended and challenging.

This product teaches 284 tier 2 academic vocabulary words for grades 4-6. All learning and instructional routines are research-based and utilize visible thinking routines.

Here’s what you get:
16 pages of Teacher Talk guidance through the project (colored).
71 pages of Word Wall Cards (284 words, black and white).
36 pages of word cards for student vocabulary rings (284 words, black and white).
26 black chalkboard-style circle alphabet markers for a class word wall (black and white).
2 mini posters for students (colored).
26 page Student Vocabulary Notebook masters (black and white) with 3 example pages.
12 pages of Vocabulary Instructional Routine lesson plans (black and white). These are 6 lesson plans that can be used to teach any vocabulary word.
3 black and white student pages that go with the Vocabulary Instructional Routines & 2 example pages.
Five student desk tents for vocabulary jobs.
Materials and directions for two whole-class vocabulary games (9 pages).
One student-engagement tips sheet for teachers.
3 black and white vocabulary assessments (6 pages) editable and non-editable.
One black and white data notebook sheet for student use.
