Task cards for students who need supplemental help with vocabulary development. Understanding Tier II words can improve comprehension and are often found in non-fiction text. Students often come across these words when reading science, and news articles. We can have a bigger impact on a student’s comprehension when we concentrate on teaching them. The word list is in the preview.

These task cards use Tier II Vocabulary words from 7th and 8th grade word lists. They are presented within the context of small paragraphs. The students complete tasks that include finding word meanings and answering comprehension questions. The words used on my task cards are not a complete compilation of one word list and come from a variety of 7th and 8th grade vocabulary lists.

There are a total of 126 words used within the text. I used words that made sense within the context of the paragraphs. There are 20 cards with 2 options each for a total of 40 cards/slides.

This is the third set of cards of a series that include grades 3-4, 5-6, and 7-8 vocabulary lists. Passages are more difficult than my previous sets but are still kept to 1-2 paragraphs per card. If you make them into task cards, you can choose what is included on the flip side by the way you fold them. A student can be provided answers or not. Please look at the preview to see how this works and the word list. You can use them for independent learning centers when the answer option side is used. They can also be used in EASEL.
