I use this handout when teaching the meaning of the words before and after. First I model with an anchor chart (that looks like this paper)exactly what they will do. I think of my favorite activity and then draw and write about it. Then I encourage them to think of their own favorite thing to do. Then students will draw/describe their favorite thing to do. Second I model how to describe and draw what comes right before I do my favorite activity. Then the students draw/describe what they do right before their favorite activity. Last, I model what comes after my favorite activity and then the students draw/describe what they do after their favorite activity. Then we glue the page into our math journals.
