I teach upper elementary and they laugh when I mention "time out" or "think time" so I came across something that seemed amazing. ALASKA! Name your corner, desk, chair, or just spot where you need to send your students to just COOL off or CHILL OUT for a minute or two. I use my Alaska after I have given students a verbal warning I then will send them back to the "Alaska Desk" and have them think about their actions and why they were sent here. I like it because it is not really a punishment, but sometimes we all need our time to cool off and collect our thoughts.
