Product Description
TEACH ACADEMIC AND CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS USING MUSIC

This song activity, "Time" by Tom Waits, includes a detailed 28 Power Point slide lesson plan that teaches annotation skills, inductive reasoning, and literary analysis.

This zip file includes a 28 POWER POINT SLIDE PRESENTATION that helps the students understand how to analyze song lyrics using inductive reasoning. Each slide gives the students detailed instruction and examples of how to look for specific literary devices and annotate the lyrics. The students learn how to formulate a theme based on their findings/supports. After they write a one-paragraph analysis, they will use a model analysis to help them revise their own essay. In addition to the Power Point there is a STUDENT GUIDED HANDOUT that keeps them engaged and active with the Power Point slides. I have also included the POWER POINT PRESENTATION AS A PDF file, so you can print the PowerPoint and use the slides for handouts. I have included suggested LESSON PLANS, OBJECTIVES, SUPPLEMENTAL ACTIVITIES AND ESSAY RUBRIC.
