Students will plan a party of their choice with a $100 budget. The focus of this project is for students to utilize decimal operations and other mathematical concepts to a real world application of party planning and budgeting. Students will use the accompanying price list to determine their budgeting, which may involve them adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing decimals. This project includes all necessary graphic organizers, a rubric and detailed directions within the student packet. This is a great project to use as an individual assessment or as a cooperative learning opportunity. Time for a Party also includes an extension activity for the students to create a multimedia presentation detailing their party and budget planning.
