Product Description
If the thought of guided reading makes you pull your hair out, or even if you are a guided reading guru who's looking for more materials, this 160 page packet has everything you need! For teachers unsure of where to begin, or who have seen the whole guided reading process go strangely wrong, the instructions in this packet help to lead you back to success. Then it provides you with forms, question cards, 100 activity sheets and more to use with your guided reading groups. Every activity sheet is correlated to the Common Core Standards for that grade level in the two strands of: "Reading: Literature", and "Reading: Information Text". To see the standards addressed, see the linked standards on this page.

This packet includes:

Table of Contents

Where to find materials for guided reading if your district does not provide them

Conducting a running record, and using it to find your students' instructional reading level

Grouping students

How to make a guided reading schedule

How to conduct a guided reading session

Forms to use for both running records and guided reading

Six pages of question cards for "before", "during" and "after" reading questions for both fiction and non-fiction

"What Are the Other Kids Doing" activity suggestions

Samples of class-wide daily assignments during guided reading

Posters to make your own daily assignments

100 guided reading worksheets, 20 for each reading grade level from first to fifth. Ten are for use with fiction, ten for non-fiction in each grade level. Each sheet has the Common Core Standard for that grade level in the bottom right hand corner. In the left hand corner is a designation of fiction or non-fiction. In the center is the activity sheet number. These activity sheets are generic and can be used for numerous reading selections.

Reading activity sheets are set up for students in second through fifth grade. First grade activity sheets are provided, as many second grade students will still be working on that level. Fifth grade teachers will note that materials are provided for students reading in grade levels below fifth, and for those reading on fifth grade level. No materials are provided for student reading above 5th grade level.
