This 30-minute timed writing assessment asks for students to respond to a writing prompt that questions the student as to why they are learning English. Results demonstrate a student's mastery of written skills, serve as an insight to personal learning motivation, and can be used to support placement.
This timed writing packet includes: cover page, rubric with writing prompt, 1 graphic organizer, and lined paper for the written response. The rubric is set up to total 100 points, with designated points organized in writing categories of content/structure, form/mechanics, vocabulary, and grammar.
Test was designed to be used in ESL/EFL/IEP/Adult/International classrooms as a means of evaluating language level skill set. I have used this as a class reflection assignment, as well as, a course diagnostic exam.
