I updated an activity by making my timeline more interactive with visuals, pictures of presidents which pushed those policies, historical themes during that period, and characteristics of each type of federalism I could possibly find. I also included an exhaustive answer key which should be more than enough information for you and the students. I've tried it in class and found it pretty successful using a class period and with textbooks, AP guides, and/or the internet for research. There are three steps: 1) match the type of federalism outlined in the boxes 2) Match the presidents with the picture above it 3) Fill in examples and characteristics of the types of federalism. Steps one and two have a word bank to choose from, step three have some examples already completed- students do the rest. As I've said there is a key with everything on it if the kids need some help from you. This was a heck of a lot of work on my part doing research and brainstorming, but I'm finally happy having a comprehensive timeline I couldn't find anywhere else. I hope you enjoy it.
