You can't understand Oklahoma History or U.S. History without understanding the events specific to American Indians and timelines are a great way to help students understand cause and effect.
With this exercise, significant events common to all American Indians (Native Americans) living in Oklahoma have been identified for you beginning in the 1500s. Instructions guide teacher and students to make a physical timeline of these events. Then, students can research their own local tribal history and make a computer-generated timeline specific to their own tribal citizenship or local tribal history.
Designed for high school students, but teachers can easily adapt for middle school. Excellent JOM resource!
A colorful sample timeline is included showing five eras in American Indian history in Oklahoma. Created by You Are Here Curriculum. www.YouAreHereOK.com
