Timing and Coordination in Plants
Product Description
This AP Bio resource takes a difficult concept, "timing and coordination of physiological events in plants," and breaks the topic down into specific examples on a chart. The chart lists representative plant responses like dormancy, growth, chemotropism, phototropism, nastic responses, gravitropism, photoperiodism, vernalization, allelopathy, leaf abscission, and seed germination. It instructs students to research the stimulus, environmental cue, and molecular and cellular events. Because the AP bio curriculum allows for a variety of topics that address how timing and coordination of events are necessary for regulation and control, this chart offers more than would be expected of students to learn. These topics are perfect for group projects and presentations and/or a long-term homework assignment. An answer key is provided; however, current research is ongoing. This product includes both MSword and pdf documents so you can build a repertoire of plant behaviors and responses. AP Biology learning objective 2.36 is met with this chart as well as Essential Knowledge 2.E.1 (Timing and coordination of specific events are necessary for the normal development of an organism, and these events are regulated by a variety of mechanisms.)
