KT Education brings you Tin Can Tales!
Retelling familiar stories with tin can puppets, a theater and scenery is unique, innovative and FUN! Students can dramatically retell stories, sequence events and use dialog and settings to add to the retelling. It provides teachers with a quick and easy way to assess comprehension.
Having children retell a story is a valuable assessment tool for comprehension. It gives teachers insight into a child’s understanding of the text, as well as how the child constructs meaning.
You will need a colored file folder, a couple large and regular paper clips and some different sized cans from the grocery store shelves or your pantry. That's it! Everything else is contained in the packet.
Quick and Easy!
The packet includes:
-Directions, with photos, for making a file folder theater and tin can characters, as well as how to change the scenery
-Cute, colorful tin can character strips to cut out and tape to cans - the "puppets"
-Blacklines of all the character strips and scenes for students to use for a Take Home Retelling Activity or for in class "Color Your Own" characters and scenery to be embellished as they wish.
Tin cans can be used over and over for different characters, different stories, and used throughout the year to assess comprehension. Look for more familiar stories in our Tin Can Tales series...coming soon to our TpT Store.
