I found a tiny set of tools
that's sold as key chains. I removed the chain and clasp and now I have a great resource for demonstrating tools and simple machines in my classroom.
The tools are simple
but they move (pliers and wrenches) and it make it so much easier than having to remember to collect and then return a bunch of tools for this activity.
The small size
(2.5") makes it easy to sort on a paper plate or project images on the wall. Kids ♥ to handle the tiny tools and that adds to the enthusiasm in my classroom.
I've included images of the tools in my Resources for Teaching about Tools
product. When you have your own sets of tools, you'll be able to use them in your classroom to introduce tools, simple machines, how tools save us work, where they are found, etc!
