This is a collection of resources for both students and teachers of writing.
The first handout is a front & back page of "Six Traits Made Easy" and "Helpful Tips for Writers." This is meant to be given to students at any grade level to review what the Six Traits of Writing are and some basic practices of good writers.
The next section is a list of writing activities and lessons that teachers can use as mini-lessons or expand for full writing assignments. There are links and suggestions for a few helpful websites and writing tools on the computer.
There are also three different graphic organizers and a formal outline for students to use to put information into various parts and organize their thoughts. The first one is a kind of storyboard style with boxes for sketches and a few lines for description. The second is a mindmap. The third is a more traditional triangle and rectangle set of boxes for the five-paragraph essay. The outline has suggestions in brackets for students to follow.
The final two pages are a front & back handout for Teachers and other people who need to be trained in scoring papers using the 6 Traits. There are quick tips and suggestions for implementing a 6 Traits program at your school.
This packet is a simple overview of the 6 Traits of Writing and The Writing Process, with one-page handouts for Students and Teachers alike. Enjoy!
