Students will find themselves engaged in creating their own stories using this roll-the-dice chart. Students roll the dice three times. Each time the dice is rolled, a marker is placed under the character that was rolled, then under the setting and finally under the problem. Students then begin creating their story using the three selected parts. The focus is on having students practice writing their stories using the given character, setting and problem while they must find a solution to the problem. This is a great activity to reinforce creating writing, story structure, identifying problem and solution, or as a bilingual center activity. It is also helpful in developing students' problem solving skills.
