Product Description
Celebrate the holiday season, engage your students, and promote world languages all at the same time with these multilingual resources.

First, I have created a word search with words related to the holiday season. The word search is designed to:

1 Keep students engaged during a seasonal time when many students find it difficult to concentrate and stay on task,

2 Use student diversity in a positive way as they look for holiday-related, hidden words in multiple languages (English, French, German, and Spanish)

3 Provide a team-building or collaborative activity by having pairs or small groups record the words that they find in spaces provided. As a gradual-release strategy, students are not given a word bank. The teacher may provide these words when the time is best.

The words hidden in the puzzle include:

* Feliz, regalo, árbol de Navidad, velas, hombre de nieva, Nochebuena, campanas,

* Joyeux, L'Hiver, Pere Noel, Bonhomme de Neige, Decembre, rouge, vert, Lumiere,

* Schneemann, Engel, Geschenk, Heiligabend, Familie, Engle, Kranz, Silvester,

* Hanukkah, Chanukah, Dreidel, Temple, lights, Menorah, Latkes, Kugel, Gimmel.

This word search will be a great bell ringer, reward activity, or a helpful addition to your substitute lesson plans.

I also created a writing activity that is ideal for Level II-III classes or for Level I classes that have already learned Clothes & Colors. Students are given a scenario where they have a new classmate who has been invited to an "Ugly Sweater Party" but does not speak much English yet. Students are tasked with writing a note (1-2 paragraphs) that explains the "ugly sweater" concept and that describes what an ugly sweater may look like. Once the writing is complete, there is a blank sweater that students can decorate and color..

All in all, these resources recognize diversity, multiple languages and cultures, and captures the spirit of the holiday season for everyone.
