This PowerPoint allows the teacher to read through the poem with the class and to give some background information to the poet, Keats. The class is then divided into 3 groups (you could make six groups for a bigger class and make it competitive - two groups each covering one stanza).
Each group will need A3 cardboard (or access to a computer if you like to use ICT) and they prepare the page as per the last slide in the PowerPoint. Teacher facilitates the activity. The class take their own notes on the poem from their peers and an oral mark can be allocated if each member of the group is to speak. They will offer things like a glossary, a summary of the stanza, a chain of words they thought were particularly effective (they will need to justify why), an image that best captures the the essence of the stanza they are doing and they will then test the class on their understanding, correcting their peers where necessary. For weaker groups the teacher can set 3 or 4 questions on each stanza and have each group answer answer these for the class.
