This game helps students to begin composing a ten, which is a Common Core State Standard for first Grade. This center was carefully designed to allow students to begin demonstrating their understanding of the concept that will be further explored in Grade 2. I had my first graders play this game and they were engaged and motivated to demonstrate their understanding of the skill. Simply print out the pages and follow the directions for assembly. I've included photographs of the assembly process. I've even included a photo and labels for the pocket folder which will hold all of the pieces in a nice tidy package. This resource is 43 pages which contains 182 addition problems for students to solve. There are 182 feathers which comprise of 8 sequentially challenging problems. I've included a set in color as well as a grayscale set. Students will pull a feather, read the math problem, and decide if a ten needs to be composed or not and place it on the appropriate turkey mat. This helps with building mental math and properties of place value.
