Thank you for looking at this unit! I hope you find the materials useful and relevant. This is a high-level, critical thinking unit designed to challenge your students. It is geared toward 8th grade and up. Much of this unit is designed to be used one of two ways: 1.) Student packet, which you don’t collect until the end of the unit (you decide what to include when you hand them out); 2.) Individual handouts as you progress through the novel.
HERE'S WHAT YOU GET!
Due Date/Reading Schedule
with Other Important Dates
(This is an optional calendar as it allows for some reading in class, and lists the chapters students must read on their own, along with corresponding Question Set for HW)
Pre-Reading Worksheet on Courage
Suggested Literary Response Essay Topics
Significant Quotes Worksheets (Students find quotes and keep a running journal, along with analysis)
Question Sets for All Chapters (can be used with calendar, or on their own at intervals)
In-Class Writing Prompts (students write and turn in at the end of the period—can be used as an assessment or more like a journal. There are three sets: Chs. 1-6, 7-12, and 13-21)
Character Study Worksheet
Writing Quizzes on Chapters 1-11, 12-23, and 24-31
Scrapbook Project Handout
Scrapbook Project Rubric/Grade Sheet
Short-Term Project Ideas
Vocabulary Practice Worksheets and Quizzes with Key
Since this packet is mainly classwork/homework, writing, and vocabulary, and I have not included final tests, it is priced a little lower than my other unit packs with tests.
Again, this is a very work-intensive unit that will challenge your students with a lot of writing, thinking, and learning.
