Looking for a quick but effective way to check your students’ understanding?

Ten different WRITE AROUND activities ask students to explore important ideas in the novel and to dig deep as they develop their ideas. You can read about how I use these in my own classroom HERE.

Twenty-three TWEET SITUATIONS require students to creatively illustrate their understanding of character. For example, a pair of students might assume the roles of Scout and Atticus as they tweet about her first day of school. Or, they might be Miss Maudie and Aunt Alexandra tweeting about the Missionary Circle. All students can work on the same "tweet" situation, or each pair can have a different one.
