This Common Core inspired activity gets students up out of their seats and analyzing textual evidence (while reviewing key characters and plot events)! The activity includes four graphic organizers (one for Atticus, Scout, Jem, and Calpurnia), twenty-four enlarged quotes to hang up around the walls of your classroom, and an answer key. You will make copies of the graphic organizers and randomly pass them out to your students (25% of them will receive a claim about Atticus, 25% Scout, 25% Jem, and 25% Calpurnia). The students will circulate around the classroom (with a pencil and their graphic organizer) analyzing the quotes. The students must decide if the quote pertains to his/her character and then if the quote "proves" or "disproves/is not relevant" to the claim stated on the graphic organizer. There are only 6 quotes per character (3 that support/3 that disprove), and the answer key is attached!
