Twelve questions to help students mentally prepare for the complex issues that arise in To Kill a Mockingbird. The questions are free response and encourage students to think about how they would handle certain racial and coming of age issues that occur in the novel. This anticipation guide could be used as a warm up and conversation starter, as well as an extended writing activity. Teachers could have students get into small groups (after responding to the questions in writing) to discuss together, or it could be presented as a whole class discussion.
