Product Description
This handout contains instructions for a literacy task--Read, [THINK], Write, Cite. There is both a PDF version & WORD version for editing.
It also contains a short article about Mob Mentality.

This particular task is designed for chapters 15-16 of To Kill a Mockingbird. It asks students, in 6-8 sentences, to determine which of the theories of mob mentality (listed in the article) applies to the mob situation in the novel.

The real beauty of this assignment though is that it contains a graphic organizer that is perfect for teaching students to implement quote sandwiches into their writing. It is a great beginner or refresher activity. Once students have filled out the graphic organizer, they need only transfer into a paragraph.

This particular tasks also asks students to determine the claim made in the article (and identify the statements that aid in its development) as well as asks students to make their own claim in response to the prompt.

It is great for making writing seem easier for students! The graphic organizer can easily be adapted for any literacy task.
