PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

AVID Vocabulary Awareness Activity

Students should go through the list and check the correlating box for their current understanding for each word.

If students check that they "know it well-can explain it" they should use the notes section to define it in their own words.

Once all students have completed the check list they should discuss in groups. Students will become a teacher to their group mates if they are familiar with words that others are not.

Once groups have gone through the list the teacher can go through the sheet with the class or have students look up the words on their own. It is important that they put it into their own words though to show that they have full understanding.

The additional rows can be used for vocabulary that individual students found that they were not familiar with.
