This assignment contains four quotes. Each of the quotes are accompanied by five analysis questions. The students must assess the speaker's tone, what is happening in the text, and the significance of each quote.
I have used this assignment as an individual assignment and also as a group project.
It works especially well as a group assignment. I divided the students into groups and gave each group one quote. The students then had to present their work to the class and answer questions from their classmates. It was a great way to assess the students’ understanding of the text!
