PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

For this activity students connect characters to metaphors and/or similes after doing a mini-lesson on similes and metaphors.
I’ve used this activity towards the end of the novel and as a culmination activity. Students discuss the characters and their traits and then figure out which would be the best way to use simile or metaphor to illustrate those traits. Students also enjoy getting to illustrate the simile or metaphor they create.

We have taken this a step further and created larger posters of the characters to display as well.

This can be differentiated for students, jig-sawed, done individually or in small groups.

For the most part, this activity can be completed independently – allowing you to work with students who need catching up, more help comprehending, etc.
