This is a unit plan for To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. It is 28 days long. The reading of the book is structured around literature circles; however, unlike traditional literature circles, the whole class is reading the same book, so on most days, the whole class reads together in some manner. At the end of the book, students are assigned an essay about one of the characters of To Kill a Mockingbird using quotations from the book. Since I do this at the end of the year, the essay is less structured to see what they can do. Read more about the unit in the preview.
