This is a PPTx presentation on smoking cigarettes - tobacco plant growth, production of a cigarette, combustion, atomic changes, chemical composition and health dangers. I created this presentation using a Canadian website that has a Flash version - very interactive and visually stimulating but temperamental depending on what version of Adobe you have and if your school division allows it.
So I used some of the information and added my own to make this a great introduction to smoking cigarettes. It includes lots of animations and questions to keep (me on my toes and) the learner engaged. This sparks a lot of classroom conversations.
After the PPT we talk about people we know that smoke, the various ways to quit smoking, and then study a timeline of the changes that happen in your body when you quit. Good stuff.
