The bell rings for your next class to start. Two students don't have their pencils, one forgot to complete her homework last night, one other student has a funny story to tell you about what happened to him last night, and you need to start your lesson for the other students before they become too talkative, or worse...become bored! What you need is a bell ringer activity! They allow you to deal with the almost inevitable issues that pop up at the start of a new class, while your students work on an activity that boosts their historical knowledge and develops their character.
This Bell Ringer PowerPoint includes:
*One slide for each day in March to project for students as they enter your classroom.
*Slides either contain a significant event in history or an inspirational quote to develop character values.
I've had success with this product by having students write a journal entry each day as they enter. Typically, students practice paraphrasing what happened on this date in history and add critical thinking by writing why that event in significant. Additionally, when the daily slide is an inspirational quote, students are instructed to write about what is the meaning of the quote and how to apply it to their lives.
This product has helped me develop my students' writing skills, reading comprehension, historical knowledge, and the characters of my students. I hope you find it as helpful as I have!
