Today's Number / Number of the Day is a great whole group, small group or individual center activity that reinforces many different ways to represent a number and build strong number sense. Students copy the number of the day, and then fill in information using it as the starting point. You could also slip this one sheet into a page protector, and use along with dry erase markers for daily practice. It aligns nicely to the Kindergarten skills. In K start using the more complex version after the easier version as some of the concepts are not taught in the beginning. The ten frames only allow for the representation of numbers to 30 which goes beyond the kindergarten standards. But our kiddos are smart! Push them!
