A comprehensive unit about Africa. Includes 3 reading comprehension passages - South Africa, Tanzania and Egypt. Each passage is written from the perspective of a child in that country who teaches in the past tense about the food, weather, animals, places to go and more! After reading and answering questions, students complete a study chart (with a completed chart included for reference) and a final assessment. There are 3 accompanying Powerpoints that go along with each reading comprehension. As the students read aloud, project the Powerpoints on the board and students connect the words with the images. There is also a project at the end where students research about a different African country and create a presentation using the app My Story. My students love learning about kids' experiences in other countries! I use it with 3rd graders but it would be appropriate for 2nd-6th.
