♥DO I USE THIS PRODUCT AS A BREAK OR REWARD?♥Some students need a structured break built into their work, while others need to earn a reward.
♥For students who may need a break: This would be the case for students who fatigue easily, need a sense of how much longer they are expected to work, or require built in breaks. The teacher provides token rewards, ‘X’ out planets, or move piece along planets as the student gets closer to their break. This can be timed so that the student earns their break during a natural transition (between stations or during a transition). In this purpose, the Space Chart provides as a visual reference as to how much longer until a break.
♥For students who may need a reward: This would be the case for students who require their positive behaviors to be reinforced. The teacher provides token rewards, ‘X’ out planets, or move piece along planets as the student behaves with desired positive behaviors. Be simple and positive when you describe the desired behavior to the student. Such as, if the student is getting out of their chair and walking away from the table, say, “Sit in your chair.” When the student returns to sit in their chair, provide them the reward (token on planet, moving piece along, etc.) to reinforce the behavior. As they remain seated, continue to reward them on the Space Chart and verbally reinforce, such as, “I like how you are sitting.” If challenging behaviors persist, reward small acts of success!
More implementation instructions included once downloaded.
