Just in time for Thanksgiving! This fun money stamping activity will engage students as they help Tom Turkey buy his Thanksgiving Dinner menu items!
There are three levels of activity books so you can differentiate for your students.
In the first level, students must determine the coins needed to pay for each menu item. Values are less than 25 cents. Students can use coin stamps or draw representations of money to determine the amount needed. For example, a price tag of 7 cents is displayed. Students stamp or draw one nickel (5 cents), and two pennies (2 cents). They use real life models to add numbers up to 25.
In the second level, students are given more challenging values up to 75 cents. They may need to use their knowledge of place value to determine the coins. For example: 7 dimes (7 tens) and 5 pennies (five) equals 75 cents.
Finally, in the third level, students are challenged to come up with more than one representation of the same amount.
Your kids will enjoy this Thanksgiving inspired math activity! I’ve also created a black and white version for each level so you can save ink!
Happy Counting and Happy Thanksgiving!
