Punch Hole Cards-Trace, color, and write word in middle. Students read the words along the borders. After that, there are 2 options: students can use a hole punch to punch the words along the edge, or if each card is laminated they can use a dry erase marker to cross off the “Words to Know” . I have students with OT issues, use a hole punch on card stock, it encourages them to press down harder.
Roll, Read, Write- Differentiated! Two versions. The first version has all six words for the story. Students can play by themselves or with a partner. If playing by themselves, students can play until they reach the top or fill the whole board. With a partner, the student who fills a whole column first wins! Roll die, find the appropriate column, write the word.
Color, Write, Cut-Differentiated!. 2 sheets for each of the 8 words in this unit. Students are asked to trace, color, and write the word. Next, students cut and unscramble letters to spell the “Word to Know” given at the top of page. After cutting and arranging, students glue the letters down in order in the provided boxes. A great site word, cutting and gluing practice! Lower level students complete the version where the word is colored, spelled into letter shape boxes, unscramble word.
