Flipchart includes previews of the movie Sleepless in Seattle. First preview is linked to the "tristar" image on screen- this trailer shows the film. When done showing that, go to next page and ask the students the basic plot and write on screen. (may need to watch twice to get the basic plot) Then, go back to 1st page and tell students that you are going to show them a trailer for the same movie with the same plot. 2nd trailer is linked to the bottom right star. This 2nd trailer is taking a scary and suspenseful spin. This all helps students to understand tone. Flip also helps students transition from movie to book understanding of tone. And, there is a writing activity for students to experiment with changing tone. I put the students in groups to write an excerpt or the whole thing- depends on what the group wants.
